Academic and Professional Advising Academic and Professional Advising

In support of the overall educational design, several services of academic and professional career advising are provided. The overall goals are to help students produce, reproduce, and rework the various opportunities offered by the Cultural Program and life in the Collegio in general; to clearly define an individual career path; and to clarify one’s abilities with the aim of successfully entering into the professional world.

Students are given individual support during their stay at the Collegio di Milano:

  • integrating university life with life at the Collegio;

  • receiving academic advising about educational decisions in Italy or abroad, in line with students’ expectations, skills, and backgrounds;

  • preparing applications for study-abroad opportunities and international degree programs in English (Master’s Degrees and Ph.D.s);

  • preparing to enter and entering the job market. Collegio students may take advantage in particular of a training program that offers basic information on how to approach and how to go on the job market, with a particular emphasis on the private sector. By offering a number of cases and examples, we have developed a strategy that begins with compiling students’ résumés, CVs, and cover letters, then guides them through the job search, up through the general interview and selection processes. Subsequent individual career counseling aids students to identify career choices consistent with their capabilities and personal traits as well as suited toward enhancing their strengths, personal characteristics, and backgrounds.
