As for the Regular Students, the selection of Visiting Students will be entirely based on their academic merit. No scholarships are offered to Visiting Students. FAQ 1. May I apply to be admitted as a Visiting Student even if I do not speak Italian? YES. A knowledge of Italian is not an absolute requirement to be admitted as a Visiting Student. 2. If I do not speak Italian, will I feel isolated? NO. The Collegio hosts students who come from all countries of the world, not all of whom speak Italian fluently. The common activities (the majority are in Italian, some in English) are usually an excellent way of making friends and improving one’s knowledge of English and Italian. 3. How far is the Collegio from the center of Milan and from the universities? THAT DEPENDS ON THE DESTINATION. The Collegio is located at a short distance from the center of Milan and is well-connected by local transportation. The nearest bus stop is located across from the main entrance to the Collegio; the nearest metro stop is Famagosta on the Green Line; the stop is located 500 meters from the Collegio. The Collegio is highly recommended for all students who must travel downtown as well as to the southern and south-western parts of Milan; the Collegio is less convenient, on the other hand, for those students who must commute to the northern and north-eastern parts of Milan. 4. Is the Collegio a safe place? YES. The entrance to the building is under porter surveillance, which is active 24 hours a day. A system of anti-intrusion video-cameras are active on the exterior. For security reasons, all visitors must present valid identification upon entering the building. 5. Is there medical assistance? YES. The resident doctor of the Collegio takes student appointments within the building. In the event of an emergency, the nearest hospital equipped with an emergency room is located 500 meters from the Collegio (San Paolo Hospital). 6. Must I participate in the cultural activities? NO. . .but it is recommended! The cultural activities offer an excellent opportunity to socialize with other students. Visiting Students are not, however, required to attend them. 7. Must I respect specific schedules and regulations? NO (schedules), but YES (regulations). Students are free to come and go from the Collegio as they please; the porter service is active day and night. Internal rules that regulate behaviour on the inside of the building exist; they are based essentially on the principles of living together civilly and maintaining respect for others. 8. May I have guests? YES, UNDER CERTAIN LIMITATIONS. All guests must be registered at the entrance. If you would like to have an overnight guest, you must alert the secretary’s office. The presence of external guests is regulated by the following procedure:
9. Does the Collegio offer scholarships to Visiting Students? NO. Scholarships are reserved for Regular Students. 10. May I become a Regular Student? YES, IF YOU HAVE THE QUALIFICATIONS. In order to become a regular student, you must possess an exact list of qualifications and must pass a selection process that takes place twice a year. The transition from visiting student to regular student is not impossible, but it is improbable. | |
