Le radici del futuro
La Cina è vicina. Molto più di quanto si pensi.
È infatti accaduto che, in una tranquilla giornata come le altre, al cancello di Via San Vigilio si sia presentata Miss Xinmei Situ, una gentile signora cinese, in viaggio per un tour in Italia, munita di cappellino e occhiali da sole come ogni turista ben attrezzato.
La Sig.ra Xinmei aveva una storia da raccontare e non era arrivata per caso alla nostra reception.
Nel lontano 1984, Miss Xinmei aveva infatti vissuto nel Collegio da studentessa della Fondazione Finafrica. Un’esperienza indimenticabile e davvero rara per una ragazza cinese negli anni ’80.
La visita al Collegio l’ha emozionata e commossa e ha voluto scriverci narrando la sua esperienza e inviandoci alcune fotografie.
Ecco le sue parole e un breve racconto della sua vita:
I would like to write this letter to express my sincere thanks to all the staff in the Collegio.
You kindly spared your time to receive me and my friends in the Collegio yard, which added my Italian tour extra joy and excitement.
I think I owed you many thanks and a bit of introduction of myself, plus the pictures taken on that day and of 33 years ago.
My name is Xinmei Situ. In August 1984, I, together with other 19 Chinese colleagues came to Fondazione Finafrica, Milan. We spent about 8 months in Milan. Since it was the first time abroad at the time for most of us, it was a very memorable time we were in Italy.
After returning to China, I went to study in US and returned to China later.
I have worked in a number of multinational companies, mostly American companies, and my final post was in PricewaterhouseCoopers, a famous accounting firm in the world, but I was based in Beijing, China. Now that some of us have reached retirement age, we have time to travel. And I am so excited to come back and revisit the memorable place where I lived and studied when I was young.
Time has changed many things, but to my relief, all looked so familiar.
Though the name of the school changed, I find it from your website that it is still a platform for intercultural exchanges. I must say Italian government and Italian business sectors have always been
farsighted to promote intercultural and international relations.
I wish the school will continue to do well and I am sure it will.

La visita al Collegio ha emozionato profondamente Miss Xinmei e ha avuto un grande valore per noi. Ascoltando il suo racconto e guardando le sue fotografie, ci siamo sentiti una volta di più certi che vivere e studiare al Collegio di Milano -così come nella precedente Fondazione Finafrica- è un’esperienza di vita che lascia il segno e che non si può dimenticare, apre porte al mondo e sul mondo e crea legami forti.
Tanto forti da riportare qui, dalla lontana Cina, una emozionata studentessa di 33 fa.
Abbiamo sentito che l’esperienza di ospitalità e di prospettiva internazionale, che è coltivata da sempre in Via San Vigilio, getta radici forti per il futuro di chi studia e vive qui.
